Vikings Softball Team Suffer Loss At Last Minute to Shippensburg

On Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, the Northern Lebanon Varsity Softball team faced off against the Shippensburg Greyhounds in what was expected to be a thrilling game. The NL team came out strong, out hitting the Greyhounds 7 to 5, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to secure a win. Shippensburg ultimately won the game with a score of 5-2.

The game was neck-and-neck until the seventh inning, where the Greyhounds were able to secure three runs. These runs were driven by Altizer, Gilbert, and Lebitz, who each played a critical role in the victory. Despite the valiant efforts of the NL team, they were unable to overcome this lead.

Bender played a significant role in Shippensburg’s victory, earning the win on the rubber. She allowed seven hits and two runs, while striking out nine batters. Meanwhile, Mauser started the game for NL and also put in a commendable effort. She surrendered five runs on five hits, but managed to strike out an impressive 13 batters. Beamesderfer led NL with two hits and three at-bats, showcasing her skill and dedication to the sport.

While the loss was undoubtedly disappointing for NL, it’s essential to recognize their impressive performance during the game. They managed to out-hit their opponents and put up a good fight until the very end. The team should be proud of their efforts and continue to work hard in preparation for future games.

As the softball season continues, NL is sure to face many more challenging games. However, with their determination and skill, they will undoubtedly have a strong chance of securing victories in the future.
