NL Students Host Senior Citizen Luncheon

Written by Collette Dobeck Matthews

On March 29, 2023 senior citizens from the area gathered together for a spring luncheon. The
luncheon is a bi-annual event that has been taking place for over 25 years. A student leads
everyone in prayer before they enjoy a meal provided by the staff and students. Student servers
made up of the SHADE Club and members of the Middle School Service Club served a
delicious meal of ham, potatoes, and green beans. For dessert the guests enjoyed danishes
and peanut butter cookies. Many other groups also helped out to make this event happen. All of
the placemats were designed by the Life Skills class which also wrapped all of the silverware.
The centerpieces on display were provided by the Agriculture Club. Entertainment was provided
by a selection of chorus students from a combined Fredericksburg and Lickdale Elementary
Schools and a combined Jonestown and East Hanover Elementary Schools. These combined
choruses both took turns singing to those who attended the event. There will be another senior
citizen luncheon again during the winter of 2023.
