Cleona Borough Police Department Receives Intergovernmental Award

The Union Township board of supervisors meeting on March 8th began with a celebratory congratulations to Chief Jeff Farneski of the Cleona Borough Police Department. Farneski and his team have been serving Union, Swatara, and Jonestown Borough for months, assisting communities that lack their own police personnel. The CBPD has been in great communication with township employees about their status and records of their presence in the community, proving to be a necessary force in the area.

Recently, Chief Farneski received recognition from the governor’s office for an intergovernmental award for the CBPD’s relationship with other municipalities. The award is well-deserved recognition of the outstanding work that Chief Farneski and his team have done to keep the community safe.

The meeting also included an update on the Quartermaster Road culvert project. The project was completed faster than the township believed and the personnel are satisfied with the results. This was the first time the township had worked with Ankiewicz Enterprises, but they were satisfied with the communication and the result of the work done.

The township is asking the company to wait at least a month to come out again to put the final layer down. This delay is due to concerns that the final layer may not adhere properly if it is applied too soon after the initial work. The township is working closely with Ankiewicz Enterprises to ensure that the final layer is applied at the appropriate time and in the most effective way possible.
