Calling all aspiring homesteaders and food enthusiasts! Long Acre Farm and Feed is proud to present its highly anticipated Homesteading Summer Series, a collection of classes designed to empower individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to embrace the art of self-sufficiency. Kicking off the series, the first classes will be dedicated to the wonderful world of canning, specifically focusing on the beloved cucumbers and pickles. With the expert guidance of instructor Kirsten, participants will delve into the fundamentals of canning and embark on a journey of culinary creativity.

Long Acre Farm and Feed, located at 246 Mountville Dr, will serve as the idyllic backdrop for this hands-on learning experience. The first class of the series, “Canning for Beginners: Cucumbers and Pickles,” will provide a comprehensive introduction to the basics of preserving and pickling. Kirsten, a seasoned homesteader and passionate instructor, will be there every step of the way, ensuring participants are well-prepared for their canning adventures.

During the class, Kirsten will cover everything from the selection and preparation of cucumbers to the art of creating brine formulations that perfectly complement the flavors of pickles. Attendees will also learn crucial techniques for sterilization and proper jar sealing to ensure their preserved goodies stay fresh and flavorful. With Kirsten’s expertise and patient teaching style, participants can rest assured that they will gain a thorough understanding of canning principles and the confidence to tackle their own projects.

The Homesteading Summer Series will continue with several class options to accommodate different schedules. The upcoming canning classes are scheduled as follows:
Thursday, June 8th, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Tuesday, June 13th, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Saturday, June 17th, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

To ensure an optimal learning experience, class sizes will be limited, so early registration is encouraged. The cost per person is $25, which includes all necessary materials, fresh cucumbers, and canning equipment. Those interested in reserving a spot are urged to call or text Kim at 717-383-0656.

Jacob's commitment to excellence is evident in all of his endeavors, whether it be in his writing or in his business ventures. Today, Jacob is the author of two books and continues to inspire others through his writing. His journey to becoming a writer serves as a reminder that sometimes our darkest moments can lead us to our greatest achievements.
