Lebanon County crafters and creators have a new outlet to showcase and sell their creations. Kelly Gerberich, a Lebanon County native, started an online craft fair group to help local artisans connect with consumers. With the difficulties of attending craft fairs and the high cost of shipping for larger pieces, this group provides a platform for creators to list their products for sale, and consumers to buy local.
The group, which is exclusive to Lebanon County residents, currently has 300 members and continues to grow. Gerberich hopes that the group will continue to attract more members as more people learn about it. The response from the public has been positive, with many commenting on how glad they are that the group exists.
The types of creators welcome in the group are those who make handmade or handcrafted products, including candle makers, knitters, crocheters, photographers, cake decorators, wreath makers, woodworkers, painters, potters, sewers, quilters, and more. If it is something handmade, it is most likely welcome in the group.
The group is strictly online, but Gerberich is open to local churches or organizations posting in the group to invite creators to join in their events. While there are no public events currently planned, Gerberich is considering small giveaways for members when certain membership numbers are met.
As an artist, Gerberich’s personal dream is to create pieces that hold special meaning for people. She plans to sell Keepsake Kritters, which are memory animals made from special pieces of clothing or fabric, such as a baby outfit, favorite pajamas, a first day of school outfit, graduation gown, or an article of clothing from a loved one who has passed.
Gerberich wants the public to take advantage of this group to connect with and buy from local creators, rather than always turning to big box stores or online craft sites. The group provides an opportunity to support small businesses in the community and allows creators to showcase their unique talents and products.
If you are a Lebanon County resident and a creator, crafter, or artist, you are welcome to join the group. It is a private group to prevent scams, but anyone willing to come to Lebanon County to pick up their project can join.
As this group continues to grow, it will become an essential part of the local community, connecting artists with consumers and providing a platform for local artisans to showcase their talent.
