The St. James Players Move to Lebanon Valley Mall

Tj Fischer, our newest contributor, is looking forward to highlighting the local art and theatre scene in and around the area.

With so much misinformation and rumors surrounding a space in the Lebanon Valley Mall, the best way to learn the truth is by speaking with the local non-profit theatre group that is moving into the space across from Mancino’s Pizza.

Allow me to introduce you to The St. James Players (also known as TSJP), the theatre group behind this exciting move. Founded by Karen Dundore-Gulotta in 2018, the theatre has grown and thrived, offering a safe and inclusive space for individuals of all ages and abilities to express themselves and shine. Whether it’s on the stage, behind the scenes as part of the crew, or assisting with technical aspects such as lighting and sound, TSJP has something to offer everyone.

The theatre puts on a variety of shows, including musicals and plays, as well as an affordable, educational, and fun summer camp, made possible by their partnership with Making a Difference of Lebanon, PA. With their move to the new space in the mall, TSJP is looking forward to hosting workshops, lessons, and other events.

One of the hallmarks of TSJP is their dedication to welcoming individuals of all abilities, with most auditions open to anyone between the ages of 5 and 105. When their previous rental space was sold, TSJP looked for other options in the area and were thrilled to find that the mall was not only affordable but also welcoming.

As a non-profit organization with no paid staff, TSJP relies on ticket sales, ads, and donations to keep their dreams alive. They are currently running a special fundraiser for the new space, allowing patrons to purchase a leaf that will be showcased in the hallway leading to the theater. In addition, a fundraising event with The Drunken Smithy is planned for April 2, 2023, where all proceeds will go directly to the theater. The more money they raise, the sooner they can complete renovations for their black box theatre and begin planning their first show in the space, a hit Broadway musical to be announced in August.

In the meantime, TSJP is still hosting shows at their former location, such as their upcoming melodrama “Here Come the Cows OR… Never Say Moo in Mesa.” These family-friendly shows are a chance for audiences to boo the villains, cheer for the heroes, and laugh at all of the cow puns. Tickets for the upcoming show, running from February 23-26, are just $10 and can be reserved by calling or texting the box office.

Volunteer, Lexie Brown, contributes her time and efforts to maintaining the website at it’s highest quality. Even if you’re new to the theatre scene, they welcome all experience levels and abilities, as demonstrated by their auditions for a fairy tale-themed play, Good Night, Princess, running from February 28 to March 1 at their 53 Chestnut St. location.
