However, Township Manager Brent McFeaters assured residents that this move is both budget-friendly and efficient for the township.
Steckbeck Engineering brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the role, making them an ideal candidate for the position. Their appointment is expected to enhance the zoning operations and ensure effective management of land use regulations within the township. McFeaters emphasized that Steckbeck Engineering’s local presence will facilitate better communication and understanding of the unique needs of Union Township.
Despite initial concerns raised by some members of the public, McFeaters reassured residents that the appointment was carefully considered and aligned with the township’s budgetary constraints. Steckbeck Engineering’s proven track record in zoning and land use management was a key factor in their selection.
In a related matter, the board voted to appoint the Lebanon County Planning Department to handle the issuance of on-lot sewer pumping letters for the township. This decision aims to streamline the process and ensure consistent enforcement of regulations pertaining to on-lot sewer systems. The county will take on the responsibility of managing information and issuing citations for outstanding residents.
The vote on this matter was met with some opposition, as Vice Chairman Kerry McCrary expressed reservations. However, the majority of the board approved the decision with a 2-1 vote, emphasizing the potential benefits of leveraging the county’s expertise and resources to address on-lot sewer issues efficiently.
In another development during the meeting, an update of the zoning map was approved to reflect the rezoning changes for the Eugene Mease tract. The board voted unanimously in favor of the updated map, highlighting their commitment to maintaining an accurate and up-to-date record of zoning designations within Union Township.
