Vikings Softball Wins First Scrimmage Against Palmyra

The Northern Lebanon Varsity Vikings softball team secured a 4-1 victory against the Palmyra Cougars in a thrilling match on Friday. The game saw both teams putting up a fierce fight, but in the end, it was Northern Lebanon who emerged victorious.

The Palmyra Cougars started strong, taking an early lead by scoring a run with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the third inning. However, the Vikings quickly pulled ahead, scoring two runs in the fourth inning, thanks to some excellent batting skills. An error by Palmyra helped Northern Lebanon get on the board, and Anspack’s single on the first pitch brought in another run.

NL scored two more points in the bottom of the fifth, securing a three-run lead, which they managed to maintain until the end of the game. The team’s starting pitcher, Hollenbach, was instrumental in their win, lasting three innings and allowing only two hits, one run, and striking out six.

On the other hand, Mollie White of the Palmyra Cougars pitched all seven innings, allowing six hits and four runs. She also struck out an impressive 18 batters and walked only one.

Olivia Shutter had a standout performance for Northern Lebanon, going 2 for 3 at bat and leading the team in hits. However, it was the team’s strong defense and excellent teamwork that ultimately clinched their victory.

At the bottom of the sixth inning, Coach Bashore swapped in the JV girls, giving them some valuable practice and game time. The young players held the team down, preventing Palmyra from scoring any more points.

Overall, it was a well-deserved win for the Northern Lebanon Varsity Vikings softball team, who showed that they have what it takes to compete at a high level. With this victory under their belt, they will undoubtedly go on to achieve even greater things this season.
