Girl Scouts Embark on Brownie Quest Journey

The girls of Girl Scout Troop 70012 have been busy this month, as they started their Brownie Quest Leadership Journey. This exciting activity is designed to encourage girls to discover their special talents and qualities, and share them with their Brownie friends.

As part of the journey, the girls have set their sights on earning the culminating award, the Master Lock. This prestigious award can only be earned by unlocking the meaning of leadership through the three keys of Discover, Connect, and Take Action.

The troop’s take action project is focused on helping animals in need. The girls were very passionate about both animal welfare and homelessness, initially suggesting that they invite homeless people to live with them in their homes. However, after discussing the idea as a group, they realized that it may not be feasible or safe for everyone involved.

Instead, the troop has decided to partner with the Lebanon Humane Society to help animals find their forever homes. They will be decorating bags that adoptees take home with starter supplies for their new pets, baking dog treats, and organizing a supply drive. The girls are thrilled to have the opportunity to make a difference in their community and help animals in need.

The troop will be collecting supplies through early to mid-June, so be sure to keep an eye out for donation opportunities. Through their Brownie Quest Leadership Journey, these young Girl Scouts are unlocking the meaning of leadership and making a positive impact in their community. We can’t wait to see what they will achieve next!

St. John’s United Church of Christ (UCC) is currently accepting donations for their latest community project. A collection bin has been set up outside the church premises, available from 8am to 1pm, Monday through Thursday until June 15.

Cathy Houser, a resident of Jonestown, has demonstrated immense kindness through Thrivent Action Teams. Her company not only approved her proposal but also sponsored T-shirts with a red heart design and the empowering slogan “Live Generously.” In addition, a generous $250 gift card was contributed towards the project.

Jacob Keiter is a husband, a writer, a journalist, a musician, and a business owner. His journey to becoming a writer was one that was paved with challenges, but ultimately led him to find his true calling. Jacob's early years were marked by a strong desire for creative expression. He was always drawn to music, and in his youth, he played in several bands, chasing the elusive promise of fame and success. However, despite his best efforts, Jacob struggled to find the recognition he craved. It wasn't until he hit a low point in his life that Jacob discovered his love for writing. He turned to writing as a form of therapy during a particularly difficult time, and found that it not only helped him to cope with his struggles, but also allowed him to express himself in a way that he had never been able to before. Jacob's writing skills quickly caught the attention of others, and he soon found himself working as a journalist for The Sun out of Hummelstown. From there, he went on to contribute to a variety of publications, including the American Bee Journal and Referee Magazine. Jacob's writing style is reflective of traditional journalism, but he also infuses his work with a unique voice that sets him apart from others in his field. Despite his success as a writer, Jacob also owns another business, JJ Auto & Home, which specializes in cleaning. Jacob's commitment to excellence is evident in all of his endeavors, whether it be in his writing or in his business ventures. Today, Jacob is the author of two books and continues to inspire others through his writing. His journey to becoming a writer serves as a reminder that sometimes our darkest moments can lead us to our greatest achievements.
